Mischief Movie Night In

Mischief Movie Night In

I am SO happy to have joined the cast of Mischief Movie Night In. We are improvising movies based on audience suggestions throughout July, at Riverside Studios, to a small in person audience and a large online audience. This show is the most fun I've had improvising...

New episode of ‘Hayley & Ruth: Two Stars’ podcast

“Hayley and Ruth are actually characters improvised by Susan Harrison and Gemma Arrowsmith and they are terrific as a pair of, alternately know-it-alls and know-it-nothings set lose in a world they only dimly understand" (Sidespliter.com) Myself and comedy...

One Size Fits All

One Size Fits All

During lockdown my writing partner Lucy Trodd and I have been hard at work on our TV script One Size Fits All, as well as working on some other ideas for comedy dramas. One Size Fits All is (among other things) a height based comedy, as myself and Lucy are of vastly...

Locked Down Online

Having finally got in to some sort of lockdown rhythm I’ve been enjoying making online content again. My mojo was MIA for the first couple of months at least, but I seem to have retrieved it now so have started making regular sketches and character bits. You can watch...

Seashore

This Summer, in between researching musicals/Enid Blyton/James Bond, I made the first short film I’ve written, Seashore. The film is a *dramedy about a long distance relationship. There is a twist in the story but I’m afraid I can’t tell you what it is or I would have...

Timpson: The Musical at The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham

I saw Timpson: The Musical in a sold out room at The Edinburgh Fringe last year and, along with the rest of the audience, I laughed my bum off. My bum has now been re-attached and I’m raring to go! Having improvised numerous musicals from scratch I can’t wait to...

Been listening to the songs from @boburnham #Inside on repeat. So catchy & melodically satisfying & stand up in their own right. Nice harmonies, emotional/zeitgeisty lyrics, clever parodies of various styles. Easier said than done with musical comedy 🙌🏻

Pretty great doing a scripted (as opposed to improvised) play tonight. And I don’t have to think “oh I could’ve made a different narrative choice” because the choices were made for me, by the writer. Such luxury!!
